My 10 favorite Valentines Decorations {2014}

What are some of your favorite Valentine’s posts?

two month favorites

Can’t believe my little one is almost 3 months old! Better sneak in my “two month favorites” before we’re into month #3 in less than a week!!

1. pottery barn kids stroller blanket | 2. Little Remedies for Tummys | 3. Relax Melodies HD app | 4. The Hungry Caterpillar| 5. pottery barn kids hooded towel | 6. Exergen Temporal Scanner Thermometer | 7. The Berenstain Bears’ Valentines book | 8. Carter’s sleep sack

1. I fell in love with this blanket from Pottery Barn Kids because, well, it was chevron and purple. Little did I know that it would become one of our favorite blankets to use! It’s lightweight but still warm enough to keep my babe cozy as we suffer through this Michigan winter weather (aka PolarVortex.)

2. A few weeks into our second month my little one wasn’t going #2 and, me being the new worried momma, I called the doctor who suggested we try some gas drops. So the Hubs picked up Little Remedies for Tummys on his way home from work that evening and within 20 minutes of giving a dose to our Peanut (along with a little bicycle leg action) she was back to being “regular” again :)

3. A lot of the mom blogs have praised white noise apps for helping soothe little ones to sleep. My hubby downloaded the Relax Melodies HD app from iTunes and we use it all the time. What’s great about this app is that we can select which sounds to play and there are a ton of options!! Plus you can play more than one sound at the same time — we like like playing “ocean waves” and “heavy rain” together.

4. Our little one wasn’t super interested in her activity mat at first — that is until the Hubs hung up The Hungry Caterpillar with the rest of the dangly toys, now she swats at it all the time. She loves playing with it and now is very engaged and playful on the mat!!

5. We registered for hooded baby towels from the usual baby super store, but someone bought us this pottery barn kids hooded towel (in lavender of course!) At first I was like, “oh that’s nice” but after using it I was like “O.M.G. this towel is the best!” Seriously, it’s really worth the money! This towel is so plush and absorbent — it puts the towels we registered for to shame. I don’t even use them anymore, instead I’ve ordered two more of the PBK towels!! The Hubs and I love, love, LOVE them!

6. At our first month well visit the nurse used a scanner thermometer on our little one and when I mentioned how easy it seemed she told me that she had just bought one for her sister at Target. Not like I needed an excuse for a Target run,  I headed out and bought the Exergen Temporal Scanner Thermometer, which came in very handy for our 2-month well visit when Peanut had her shots as we had to monitor her temp throughout the evening and this thermometer was so nice to have!

7. Peanut loves to read books, so they’re all a 2-month favorite in my opinion, but in the spirit of February one of the books I really enjoyed reading to her was The Berenstain Bears’ Valentines book. It reminds me of my childhood because I had a whole collection of The Berenstain Bears books — which now have been gifted down to my little one.

8. At about two and a half months Peanut started to kick the blanket off and find a way to get unswaddled at night so it didn’t take long for us to lose the blanket and move her to a sleep sack. We’ve been using the Carter’s sleep sack which is so cozy, it keeps her snuggly warm through the cold winter nights!

30 valentine treats

I blame my recent hankerings for chocolate on all the sweets I’ve seen come across my pinterest news feed. I can’t take it anymore, I want to eat make all of it!! Of course it’s not really ideal for a postpartum mommy who has another 10 pounds to lose to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight! Thought I would share some of the scrumptious-looking Valentine’s Day treats with all of you — hey someone should be making these yummy treats if I can’t, right?!

30 Valentine Sweets

I grouped the treats by “type” — cakes (cupcakes, cheesecakes, etc.) cookies, bars (cookie bars, jello squares, etc.) and this & that.

14 fun Valentine printables

This year I wanted to decorate for all the holidays (I really did) but with a 7 week old babe at home I just never found the time to get around to dragging everything out and putting it up (I don’t even want to think about finding the time to make new holiday decorations/crafts at this point.) So if you’re like me and haven’t had time to decorate, here are some really easy decoration ideas — Valentine’s Day printables! You just print and throw into a frame that you have lying around somewhere and *BAM* instant holiday cuteness!

I know I’ll get back into holiday decorating soon – maybe for St. Patty’s day, but I’ll aim for Easter – it was just too much at the moment (I mean, we just put all of our Christmas decorations away about a week ago!) Guess I should probably start on the next holiday sooner than later eh?

Stop by next week — I’ll be sharing oodles of Valentine’s treats that you can make for your sweetie!!

baby’s first valentine’s day

My little one will be 2 months old this Valentine’s Day, so of course I’m super excited to dress her up! There are so many cute outfits these days but I wanted to keep it simple, you know just a onsie and some leggings. Simple right? Wrong. Look at all these cute baby onsies for Valentine’s…

{clockwise from left}

Gap: LOVE (hugs and kisses) | Old Navy: Gotta love me | Carter’s: Triple heart  | Circo (Target): striped heart  | Carter’s: My first Valentine’s Day  | Old Navy: Born to break hearts  | Carter’s: I love you

Decisions, decisions. I opted for the “I *heart* you” onsie — though I think I may need to pick up the striped heart one from Target for her as well (its super cute!!) Holidays are so much more fun now that I have my little peanut to dress-up and plan fun crafts and activities for — these are her memories that we’re making after all and I want them to be fun-filled loving ones!!

my 10 favorite valentine decorations

Sharing some fun and festive Valentine’s Day decorations today…enjoy!

10faveValentineDecorations{clockwise from left}

1. Clean & Scentsible photo banner and chalkboard

2. Kiss me countdown from Eighteen 25

3. Festive Valentine’s Day mantel ideas from A Pop of Pretty

4. Valentines pillow ideas from Capturing Joy with Kristen Duke (“14” pillow from  Purdue Avenue, chevron pillow from The September Tree)

5. Cute, yet simple, mantel ideas from Landee See Landee Do

6. I *heart* U frames from Eighteen 25 (super easy and you can switch out the message for different seasons, I actually made versions Halloween — “EEK” and Fourth of July — “USA”)

7. Drop Cloth Designs painted mason jars — festive way to add a little color to any room (I like how she incorporated pink and white — not just valentine red!)

8.  Spell the word L-O-V-E using monogram mugs from Anthropologie. I actually pinned this idea back during my wedding planning days (via pinterest,) thought it would have been cute decor for the head table but why stop there? Seems perfect for Valentine’s Day!

9. Scrapbook hearts in a vase — cute idea from Homespun with Love

10. Another idea from my favorite craft blog, Eighteen 25, Valentines candy dish (I actually made her version for Halloween – here – and bought the supplies last year to make a Valentine’s Day version but have yet to complete it, oye!)

Next week I’ll share some Valentine’s printables so be sure to stop by and check ’em out!

one month favorites

Everyone told me that time flies when you have a baby but it seriously feels like I blinked my eyes and {BAM!} 6 weeks flew by! I’ll post more about my little one, her birth story and life as a new momma, but for now I wanted to share some of my favorite items now that we’re a month into life with baby.

1. NoseFrida | 2. Motorola Video Digital Baby Monitor | 3. Boppy Pillow | 4. Smallnest iPhone app| 5. Dria nursing cover | 6. Mam Start Silicone Pacifier

1. The NoseFrida seems, at first, to be a super gross little gadget that a friend of mine told me we just had to register for. We didn’t end up getting it at our shower but soon after our little one was born I sent the Hubs out to purchase it on one of his many runs to BuyBuy Baby and I think we’re both glad to have it. This thing is so much better that those bulbs you get from the hospital because (a) we can clean it out and (b) we can actually see what’s coming out of our baby’s nose — color/amount/etc. It’s actually a pretty sweet buy!

2. I’m so glad that we opted for a video baby monitor! We have the Motorola Video Digital Baby Monitor and I absolutely love being able to see my little one as opposed to just listening to her. This way I can see when she starts to flail her arms and stir before she even makes a peep…and I’ll admit the first few times I may have stared at it constantly, zooming in occasionally to make sure that she was still breathing but hey, I’m a new mom!

3. The Boppy Pillow is a definite must-have for breast feeding. As my peanut is growing the pillow helps me hold her comfortably and allows me to have an arm/hand back!

4. This app from Smallnest is pretty great. It allows me to track diaper changes, sleep and feedings — and the really cool part is that you can sync two phones to the same account so the Hubs and I can both track updates! This app was a huge help when our peanut had jaundice as we had to track the number of wet/poopy diapers each day.

5. I totally love my Dria nursing cover. My sister-in-law actually has this cover and when I was pregnant I told myself that if the breastfeeding thing actually worked out for me that I would definitely invest in this cover (it’s $80.) Now I’m not comfortable breastfeeding in public at this point but I use my cover whenever we go over to our family / friends houses. It’s comfy and I love that the cover looks more like a shirt — it doesn’t have that apron-y look that I feel most nursing covers have.

6. Our peanut loves the Mam Start Silicone Pacifiers — we tried another brand shortly after introducing Mams to her but she wasn’t having it. So far we’ve done pretty well not having to rely on the paci and only giving it to her when she we really need it!
